Edward Burtynsky was born in 1955 in Ontario, Canada with a Ukrainian heritage. In his college years he received a BA in photography and media studies. He mainly takes photos of industrial landscapes. He took most of his photos in his home town were the plants were located. The images he brings to life show the impact that we have on the world from these plants. Because of his beautiful and strong images, Burtynsky is named as one of most accomplished contemporary photographers in the world. Viewing his images, the one above is the one that caught my eye the most. After reading about his background and what he captures images of, this one is the one that stood out to me the most. What I see in this picture is just pure domination of drought. One can clearly notice that he is trying to capture that water is going scarce and drying out in this photo. This photo also kind of reminds me of veins in a human body. The veins looks like they are leading to nothing, which without veins is no blood flow, so that concludes to death. This picture is completely showing that humans are drying out the planet of its water, and we all need water to survive. Another photo that brought my eyes to attention was this one. This is a photo of, it looks like millions of bad tires scattered everywhere. This photo is another one if his most famous captures. This photo also goes along with what he is trying to portray, the impact of society on the earth. When I look at this photo all I can think about is pollution. Our world gets polluted more and more each day and this photo really brings my attention to how bad it really could be. The tires in this photo looks like they could go on forever and ever. Burtynsky really does capture the world and the impact society has on it. His images are strong and really bring awareness to what he is trying to portray. All-in-all I really enjoyed looking into his work and I think he captures his motive very well. -Bronwen Lewis

I am choosing to write about Franco Fontana. Franco Fontana is an Italian photographer born in 1933. He started to pick up the skill of photography in the 1950s, but in 1961 he joined a club of amateurs that would be the turning point in his starting career. He specializes in his bright, colorful pieces. He also has written several books in many different languages.
This is one of my favorite photos taken by Fontana. The difference in colors are so beautiful and really pop out. The contrast of colors really bring this photo to life. You can tell Fontana really understands contrasting of colors. I believe this photo is also one of my favorites because is has the primary colors (red, blue, yellow) as the main focus. The clouds really help this image as it looks like they are just about to explode through the bright yellow scene. Another thing I enjoy while looking at Fontana's work is trying to understand how he captures these perfect bright color landscapes without any photoshop or editing. How can someone find such contrast in landscapes without editing. This is why I find Fontana's work so amazing.

This is my other favorite photo taken by Fontana. I think i like this one so much because it almost looks like a painting. Again I wonder how does he capture these images without altering them in some way? His images are so colorful and bright and so well done, it really can leave one stumped on how he created these images. The contrast in the dark and bright green are truly amazing. I assume he captured this by the shadows in the clouds from the sky, but he takes this photo to make it look like there is almost zero clouds to create a shadow. The yellow and green and blue is also a great contrast that I think works really well.
Overall, I really appreciate and love Fontana's work and think it is something truly amazing and I hope one day to be able to captures photos like he did.
